He'll not sit out any games. He will play unless he violates the conditions of his PTI (and maybe some conditions added by CU and Bowden, although this is not stated in the article).

I heard that Michael Jackson invited Mike Davis to go to K-Mart --- he heard that they had boys pants half off.

You won't hear anything from me. Just don't say anything next time SC does something you don't agree with.

Has Spurrier decided what game M. Davis will sit out?

Aug 29, 2008, 5:09 PM

Nothing beats letting the entire country know that you broke into the team fridge and didnt admit to it. Only to be busted on survellience.

doing absolutely nothing.

I agree the guy shouldn't be suspended because it sounds like a my word against your word kind of thing, but why come up with some bs deferred suspension thing?

It goes without saying that he'll be suspended if he doesn't do what the PTI says he should.

Why invent some new term like "deferred suspension" that

Aug 29, 2008, 5:13 PM

means nothing?

Of course he will be suspended if the breaks the rules of PTI.

No need trying to come up with some bs term just to placate people.

Bullet dodged. I wonder what really happened.

Aug 29, 2008, 9:07 PM

Considering the witness statements, I suspect that the truth of what happened was somewhere between what he said and what she said. It sounds like she started a fight and he retaliated without really intending to physically harm her. I doubt either side is blameless or deserves to have their life ruined.

Had it gone to trial, I don't think he would have been convicted, and so he would have received no punishment. But it seems that he behaved quite badly (though not criminally) so PTI, a "deferred suspension", and a tarnished reputation seem appropriate punishments.

Clemson really dodged a bullet here. He's innocent until proven guilty, so the administration couldn't have reasonably suspended him-- especially in light of the witness statements. But a trial would have been bad press for the school. And on the off chance that he had been convicted after two more seasons of play, it would have looked really bad for the school. Phew!

Suspended Bust

Aug 30, 2008, 12:05 AM

TO me this is very similar to how disciplinary issues for first time offenders are handled in the Navy. It is called a suspended bust. The truth seems to be too cloudy to truly know. Therefore, suspending him if he doesn't comply makes sense to me. It works for the world's finest navy so why not for our football team.

Re: McDaniel Placed on Deferred Suspension for 2008 Season

If this isn't a slap on the wrist, what is? It is true that there is presumed innocence, and that is great. At a minimum, suspend him for at leat 2 games. I will be shocked if this individual is on the team at the end of the season. There is an attitude amongst the athletes ( genereally speaking ) that they can fo what they want, when they want to.
