MEMORIES (LONG)

Sep 27, 2019, 9:19 PM

It is very seldom that I am home alone. Tonight is one of those rare occasions. My mind has been racing through memories of family and Clemson. October 2nd, 2010, at 310am, I said goodbye to my dad. We were a typical, Father and son. We had our differences, especially as I got older (and thought more wise...not).However, the one joy we always shared was Clemson! When the Tigers played, we were there, or listening via radio. We laughed, shouted, jumped, and got mad as hornets... we lived and died with our Tigers. In 2007, daddy was diagnosed with ALS, and given 6 months to live. He was so resilient, and every Saturday, I would have him positioned in front of the television, and we would watch our Tigers. I know, I am getting long... the morning daddy passed, we played North Carolina that afternoon. Mom and I got no sleep that night. We went to the funeral home that afternoon, and I remember when we came home, I turned on the television. It just seemed that we should have won that day...daddy despised the blue bellies..but we didn't. I just remember being totally numb, lost. The next Saturday, I honestly did not know what to do, or how to feel. We played at home, I came to moms and looked at daddys chair... when the Tigers gathered at the top of the hill, and the cannon went off...I completely lost it. Enjoy these precious times Tiger brethren, more importantly, enjoy them with the ones you love!

Keep those memories close and always remember the good times. My dad pass in March and mom passed in August, just in time to be with dad to watch the Georgia Tech game together.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, brother.
