Listening to the coots afternoon radio call in show...

Nov 14, 2019, 8:31 AM

and the other day they said that the boosters are seeing if they can get the money together to go ahead and buy out Muschamp. All rumors, but if that's the case...

Is there anything we can do as Clemson fans to counter their buyout of Muschamp to keep him there since he has brought the Tigers many years of wins and entertainment?

Yes.

As citizens of SC, Clemson fans should be arguing for fiscal responsibility from their public universities. It is irresponsible for a public education institution to waste $18,000,000 to terminate an athletic coach who has done nothing wrong or impeded the scholastic mandates of the University. Therefore, they must retain their football staff until the conclusion of their contracts. $18M will buy a lot of new coloring books for the library.

But isnt that private money...even for the Athletic Dept?

Nov 14, 2019, 10:17 AM [ in reply to Yes. ]

Or does it not work that way in South Carolina. I know in KY, both UK and Louisville operate independently run businesses known as the athletic dept and have their own budgets and revenue streams. UK is actually one of the only athletic departments that is required to give money back to the university and actually donated something like $60MM back to the university to build a new science building. Big money in athletics that really isnt connected to the school itself.

Still pretty reckless regardless.

Booster money is not controlled by the laws of the state. Each NCAA school has rules which boosters must live by, but only the school's money is under the umbrella of the state. Not the boosters'.
