Let's open this up... How is XT doing now at DE?

Just curious about the insights from those in the know (ahem David Hood), those with sources and those who conjure up wild harebrained conjecture...

1. Xavier Thomas is not mentioned much and recent article/interviews did not list him as first 4, correct?
2. How is he doing?
3. Any insights?
4. What do you foresee for XT this year?

1. The response for almost the entire camp has been that there are 5 starter type players at DE. Only thing I have seen about him not being first on the field was an article last week saying Rudolph and Foster took the first reps in a drill the media was allowed to watch. Other players not talked about very much include: Trevor Lawrence, Tee Higgins, Isaiah Simmons, K'Von Wallace and other guys who we saw on a field a lot last season. Usually the coaches talk about the players that don't have the attention of the fans and the new players.

2. Venables has said that he is currently a good player that has a chance to be a great player if he can become more consistent.

3. Insights listed above in 1 & 2.

4. He will play a lot, as will the other players included in the 5 DEs mentioned above. He will hopefully learn to play the run a little better and he should be a force on obvious passing downs.

In the BV defensive scheme one must know the calls, fill his assigned gaps and do his job as part of a complete team concept. Those that meet those requirements will play, those that do not will learn to get better on areas lacking.
