Last night was proof ESPN is #1 at broadcasting football

I'm not sure why people in here give ESPN a bad rap when they do college football games. ESPN has more camera angles, better graphics, more info and MUCH better announcers than anyone else in sports. Herbie/Fowler is their best team with Blackledge/McDonough just behind them.
I'd put NBC's NFL (Al Michaels team) next
Lagging behind in order are: FOX NFL ABC/ESPN NFL CBS NFL FOX college
THE worst is CBS college
Last night's CBS Super Bowl broadcast was horrible. Romo has good information for the game but his voice is not prime time. I was shocked in how poor their broadcast is compared to ESPH with Herbie and Fowler.

The problem with ESPN is not their broadcasting, it's their apparent bias toward the SEC. And you should know that. Granted they gave props for Clemson winning not one, but two National Championships and even playing in 4 consecutive CFP's, but there bread and butter is promoting the SEC. That's why you see the use of the label "eSECpn" or the use of the term "SEC Speed", or why some analysts will tell you Clemson's path to the Championship was easier because they played Notre Dame, or that Clemson played in a weaker conference, or that their strength of schedule was weaker than Bama's, when in reality their strength of schedule was pretty much even. Bama and the SEC will always get more positive press than Clemson, and the ACC, or for that matter more positive spins than the other 3 power conferences ever will.

I just think the college game is more exciting itself....

Of course, it is easier to be more excited about it when you're winning rather than cycling out!
I don't know if ESPN is pushing the SEC machine anymore than following it. They could be the same saps as everyone else in believing it because other groups such as CBS and the best promoter of conferences Mike Slive pumped it up in the past. Now it is a rolling train.
CBS has a major contract with the conference. They would benefit most by pumping up SEC over every other conference. ESPN has a contract with all conferences and now has ACC channel to go with SEC. I don't know if Big Ten channel is under ESPN.
Just saying that ESPN could be following/riding the train rather than driving it.

Of course ESPN is going to push the SEC so they can get all the revenue they can since the two are connected financially. Between bowl games, the CFP, the Natty and ESPN revenue paid, each SEC school got close to $43M this year. What do you think advertisers are paying ESPN when televising SEC games? Because ESPN has pushed the SEC as having great teams, multitudes of fans that spend, and thus, made the SEC a cash cow for them.
The ACC is going to be moving in that direction soon and hopefully, ESPN will do the same and the ACC income will steadily move up to somewhere close to that level after a few years.
As far as the networks, ESPN/ABC are the best for college football. I don't know about the NFL. Even ESPN Monday Night football was not very appealing (IMO).

I agree with your top two. At ESPN, Herbie and Pollock love Clemson. I have always liked Collinsworth and Michaels on NBC.
The only other team that sticks out to me is FOX college. They were pretty bad.

Yeah Romo has good information to offer, but his delivery is absolutely terrible. His voice like you said is awful. He annoys me more than any other color guy ever has. Even more than Ed Cunningham. He sounds like such a little dip$hit.

ESPN is just like the SEC. Remove their best announcing duo and the rest is very average. ESPN is nothing more than a liberal and sometimes racist network that is allowed to promote a political agenda. Like the above poster, I only watch the games.

The problem with ESPN is not the people behind the camera.
It's also not the 4 people you mentioned who are in front of the camera.
The problem with ESPN is 98 of the other 100 people they put in front of the camera.
They have weakened and watered down their on air personality product through firings and an over-saturation of events.

+ 1 for reminding me how much I love that sport. For once not being sarcastic. I truly love the game. When they show the locker rooms, they look like HS locker rooms. They have a few highly paid stars, but most are not millionaires.

Jacob m Nance is ok, Romo is a weirdo. But CBS dropped the ball. I’m conflicted, I’d like to see the best presentation, but I also don’t want ESPN to have a monopoly on all events. They just push they’re agenda that way. But I agree with the tech and info they present

It is probably related to their passion for pushing 12 SEC teams into the top 25, five SEC teams in the top 10 then playing musical chairs by moving one SEC team into the top 10 as soon as one drops to #11.
It's possible it may have something to do with their claims that Alabama is good enough to beat some of the lower tiered NFL teams and ESPiN's constant proclamations that Bama is the best college program that ever took the field.
Putting Bama in the same class as Clemson after the 44-16 askwhuppin they took isn't helping.
If anyone wants to hear all about the SEC, ESPiN is the network to view. If you don't give a chit about the SEC you probably want to record their programs and FF though the Saban butt sucking less you surely puke.
