Just a thought but if I were an NFL GM, I would be more

likely to pass on a player who "opted-out" for any reason other than a significant injury.

My reasoning is that it is a bit of a selfish attitude; that when times are tough and not aligned perfectly for me to shine, then the easiest, safest path is the one I will take.

If my NFL team is 4 and 8, would that player be the type to sit with a mystery illness? Down by 3 TD's in the 4th, will they "opt out" of making a tough play?

I know the majority of players are tough, hard nosed alphas who want to play no matter what. They have a very rigid schedule and have to maintain strong discipline to be the best week in and week out.

Give me a guy who opts In, not out on my team.
