The best all around athlete ever. football (running back, defensive back, placekicker and punter,), pro baseball, pro basketball , gold medals not just track and field, but the pentathlon and decathlon (had never thrown the javelin before), retired at age 41.

I remember reading about the shoes some time ago, but had forgotten. Happens more and more these days.
