It's in Kelly's best interest to transfer if he wants a shot

at playing football at the next level, in any capacity. The fact he's even doubting the decision to transfer shows his love for Clemson and this team; it's clear he's having an internal debate between what his football goals are and his devotion to his guys.
Professionally, there's not one reason to not redshirt.

Not so sure about that. It he is intent on trying to make a career out of being a professional quarterback (maybe in another league other than NFL), he probably stands a better chance to get a tryout after this year than if he goes to another school and plays sparingly or even has another 13TD/8INT year like last year, except on a team with with a worse record. There's no guarantee he is going to be a great starter for a college team in another position even. Taking a redshirt seems like a bit of a gamble, and he would be another year older and delaying his opportunities for 1 more year.
