Is there a chance that Clemson could add a softball team
Feb 19, 2016, 2:50 PM

In the near future? I have noticed just about every other team in the state has a program, and according to TV ratings softball is the fastest growing women's sport.

They should look at adding cooking, ironing, or dishwashing. You know, things women are good at.
Of course nekkid would be good LOL but I doubt that would actually happen.

Yes. there's a chance
Feb 19, 2016, 3:00 PM

Not a big one. IN fact, it's quite minuscule I'd guess.
But an honest answer to your question is there is always the possibility of it occurring.
But, and lets be honest here, it ain't gonna happen. That money has to come from somewhere, and unless someone is sitting on a huge (and I mean huge) donation to make it happen, then that slim chance ain't gonna happen.

They added women golf.
There is no need to add another money draining women sport until they add another money draining male sport.
I would think they would bring back the swim team or something.

Are you going to fund the new softball stadium?
Feb 19, 2016, 3:25 PM

Because I'm not. WBB can play in the same arena as MBB. Women's Golf can play on the same course as men's golf. We dropped the swim team because of expense. What makes you think there's a chance of adding a softball team?

I'm okay with having women's sports, just as long as we spend as little money as possible.

I know every fanbase has their share of uneducated hicks but I am still dissapointed when I read some of this. If you don't realize how big College Softball is then you need to get your head out of your ###. Pathetic

No as its my understanding CU would have to build facilities comparable to that for baseball to satisfy Title IX requriements.

Someone would have to get some help and determine where the field would be, how much to make that happen. Where would concessions and restrooms by. Who would build and who would maintain.

UGA put their field out in the middle of nowhere. It was "off campus" until the field was there. I bet there is a pasture for sale somewhere within 10 miles of Clemson.

We should play softball. Every other university I can think of does. 99% of the DII and DIII schools play it. I see no reason we don't.
