It now kind of reminds me of the Nobel Prize. After the last couple of selections there it has become a farce, too.

Are you trying to say Obama didn't deserve his

May 20, 2014, 8:52 AM

with all the hope and change he has brought to the world?

Is that what you're trying to say?

If so, I agree.

This is what happens when it becomes a media driven

May 20, 2014, 8:46 AM

popularity contest. Talent is just a small part of it. Hype is the biggest part. You have to play for one of the media's favorites (Ohio St, Fla St, Notre Dame, etc).

I think it's most telling how poorly most of the Heisman winners have done in the NFL. Best athletes? Best players? Or just fortunate guys with the right teams and the right hype machines?

If it was truly the best athlete, then the team's record shouldn't have much to do with it. Look at Barry Sanders with the Lions in the NFL - team sucked, but he's still recognized as one of the greatest.

But college football is owned by ESPN now, so I guess we better get used to it.

Woody Dantzler

May 20, 2014, 10:43 AM

I lost faith in the Heisman when Woody did something that NO COLLEGE QB HAD DONE BEFORE....rush for 1000 yards and throw for 2000 yards and he got ZERO votes for the Heisman .

its been through this before. for years the guys who won never got to or never made it in the pros. so I think it just goes in cycles

May 20, 2014, 1:49 PM

It is what it is, the award for the most outstanding player in CFB. It has nothing to do with the NFL, and included at least one post-award murderer. Clemson is just fortunate it has never had a student athlete charged with a crime, let alone arrested. Come to think of it, that's Winston's status.
