Interesting Stats

Posted: Apr 26, 2018 3:21 PM

Season stats not including last night's game with PC reveal several items of interest. As a team, we are batting .248, an average which would normally indicate a losing record. On the other hand, our opponents have a .237 batting average, so credit should go to our pitching staff.

We and our opponents have the exact same number of hits, 326. We have 54 doubles, 2 triples and 58 home runs. Our opponents have 59 doubles, 3 triples and 24 home runs. Normally, a team will have more doubles than home runs but we have more home runs than we do doubles. In fact, almost 18% of our hits have been home runs. In last night's game, three of our twelve hits were hone runs.

Prior to last night's game, Beer was our leading hitter at .283. The best stat for our team is the team ERA -- 3.43. Our opponents team ERA---- 5.57

Our won/loss record, including last night --- 31 - 11

Just imagine what our won/loss record would be if we were hitting in the .290 - .300 range.

Yes, one can only imagine. They have looked impressive. However, the last hump this team needs to hurdle is top 25 teams. a paltry 1-6 will not sustain us in post season play. We have one more regular season shot against Fla St. Win that series and our RPI will really shoot up. Unfortunately our SOS will suffer as we go along because of our remaining schedule. Hopefully the coots can continue to climb in RPI and that would give us another great series win and it wouldn't hurt if Lewisville could climb as well.

We win the Fla St series, take care of the other series and win the ACC tournament, we will host a Super and most likely not have to face NC State until Omaha. But if we do happen to end up in NC State super - revenge time!!!

Go Tigers.

ball. If we hit homers we win, if not we lose.

Hope we hit a lot from here on out.

Another interesting stat you might have noticed over the season is that early on our averages for our lineup went from around .350 to .150. Now it's pretty much .250 from top to bottom. And seems like the bottom of the line up is helping us out a lot more. First of the season we we're getting any runs from them. Last few games they've been winning games for us.
