If SCar offered Venables 10 Million a year, would he leave?

I think Coach V is a huge part of our success. If I was a rival of Clemson, I would want to hurt Clemson while also benefiting my own program.
SCar is already 175 Million in debt. I think I'd go ahead and fire Muschamp (20 million buyout) and offer Venables 8 year 80 million dollar deal.
What's another 100 million, right?

Do you mean just leave, or go there as coach.

They'd probably be willing to pay for one or the other.

To be fair, revenue > expenses, so I expect they are able to service that debt.
But the OP is right, they have are in the black, so they have a lot of room to continue to f--- up!

There are departments at Clemson carrying debt, too. It doesn't mean they go over annual budgeted amounts on expenditures.
Just providing a requested source

Looks like an awfully big number. I have to think that it includes contracts that have not been fulfilled. If so, we may have more debt than that after Dabo's new contract. How that debt is structured is pretty important. Though we still "owe" Dabo a huge amount, we will likely pay less than continually using short term contracts.

I think ending up at a dump like UofSCar is exactly what Venables is trying to avoid when he says the grass is not always greener when it comes to head coaching jobs.

If CBV just read this, I bet he threw up a little in his mouth.

First off, I doubt the coots could offer that amount. Secondly, while he is head and shoulders above Muscoot, I doubt the coots would go for another Defensive coordinator. All they have to do is look at how great of a job K.Smart is doing with uGA. and Kirby isn't in the same league as Brent, IMO. No, Brent is better staying right where he is at. Besides, it would take Brent 10 years just to spend 1 million in cootlumbia.

be with Dabo as long as he feels he is doing a good job. He has financial security, autonomy on his side of the ball, and the best environment in college football. Why go searching for what you already have?

Sure he has . I'm pretty sure Elliot and Scott have turned down some pretty big offers .
If one the O C's go , Dabo has someone waiting in the wings .
