If K. State's Snyder retires & Venables is offered job....

Dec 20, 2016, 7:59 AM

Does Jake keep his commitment to Clemson? I wouldn't be mad at him if he didn't. Just curious if people think this a Clemson commitment or Brent Venables commitment.

If that happens, and I hope it doesn't, I would think jr stays at Clemson. Dad will know he is in good hands and sometimes a little separation allows for further growth.

Big "IF".

He has to be offered the job to accept it.

I was in Manhattan for about three weeks in October. There are a lot of folks out there that think Venebles is the numero uno candidate.

Although I'm not sued BV wants to head coach.

never figured out the fascination with bill snyder. he is talked about like the next coming of john heisman. here is his record his last 10 years. fact is, who is actually going to ever win at ksu.

2004 Kansas State 4–7 2–6 5th (North)
2005 Kansas State 5–6 2–6 6th (North)
Kansas State Wildcats (Big 12 Conference) (2009–present)
2009 Kansas State 6–6 4–4 T–2nd (North)
2010 Kansas State 7–6 3–5 T–3rd (North) L Pinstripe
2011 Kansas State 10–3 7–2 2nd L Cotton 16 15
2012 Kansas State 11–2 8–1 T–1st L Fiesta† 11 12
2013 Kansas State 8–5 5–4 5th W Buffalo Wild Wings
2014 Kansas State 9–4 7–2 3rd L Alamo 18 18
2015 Kansas State 6–7 3–6 8th L Liberty
2016 Kansas State 8–4 6–3 4th Texas
Kansas State: 201–105–1 118–80–1
Total: 201–105–1

that record at clemson and you would have been gone 5 years ago.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Go back and look at at KState's record before Snyder got there, and

Dec 20, 2016, 8:51 AM

the three years when he first retired, then maybe you will understand. Pre-Snyder, they had the worst record in college football.

I think Kansas state might promote Snyder's son to hc

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Good point. Bill likely stays til he thinks his son is ready

Dec 20, 2016, 8:29 AM

Bill might be the only coach in America with enough equity at one school to name his own successor. He's already in the hall of fame and the freakin stadium is named after him.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I kind of thought BV was happy as DC

Dec 20, 2016, 8:22 AM

Like Bud Foster at VT. Hope I'm right. If he leaves, I fear I may go curl up in corner and have flashbacks of Kevin Steele.

Re: If K. State's Snyder retires & Venables is offered job....

Dec 20, 2016, 8:31 AM

Oh no, steele - nightmares. I just don't see him taking it. Gotta take the man for his word in that he's really not into all the head coaching duties. The more removed from that area, the less of a pull.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg2016_pickem_champ.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't even think this would be up for consideration by BV.

Dec 20, 2016, 8:46 AM

He's a D coach. He's too hype for HC position. How many DC have you seen take a HC job and be really successful? Kirby Smart, Muschamp? USuCk made failed overtures to Herman and Rich Rodriguez before turning to Muschamp. I think all of the good ones are already HC's (Saban, Stoops, etc.)

??????????

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Brent Venables will not take the Kansas State job.

Dec 20, 2016, 9:06 AM

It's a dead end job. Nobody wants to go to Kansas to live, much less to play football.

Brent has it too good to take a suck job like that.

"We establish no religion in this country, we mandate no belief. Nor will we ever. Church and state are, and must remain, separate." ~Ronald Reagan

The DC job at Clemson is better than the HC job at K-State..

Dec 20, 2016, 9:54 AM

and BV knows this.

Re: If K. State's Snyder retires & Venables is offered job....

Dec 20, 2016, 10:54 AM

I think this is an excellent question. Some people seem to be discounting KSU just because they aren't a powerhouse program. But you can never discount the human side of things. BV played for Snyder at KSU and I wouldn't be surprised if he would decide to leave for his alma mater and succeed his mentor/former coach. The same goes for Dabo. I don't believe he would leave for anyone except for his alma mater. I know if I was coaching somewhere and I had the chance to come back to Clemson, then I would definitely have to consider coming back to my "first love". There's just something about coming "home".

I thought BV already answered this question several times....said its not about the money when he got the raise...why do we bring this stuff up? Bashing cooties is way more fun.
