really need.

Obviously Crouch is a talent, but he could be a little buried on our depth chart for a couple years. Likely why Tennessee is intriguing.

Putnam is one of our absolute biggest needs.

Putnam is gone. Sucks. Is one blue chip o line commit too much to ask

One blue chip? Heck I'd take 3 slightly above average offensive lineman just for the numbers.

Yeah, Taggert did his dumb little tweet.

Looks like Putnam is likely the guy Taggert was referencing.

Our OL recruiting has been so frustrating. 2020 OL depth chart is looking very thin for a Top 3 program in the nation.

What we really need are tackles more than interior linemen but yeah. Better prepare yourself to do without him though.

People aren't going to like this but our inability to close along the OL is disgraceful. Of the teams ranked in the top 20 by the 24/7 composite only two have no blue-chip offensive linemen, us and Ark, and they have more bodies so we have the worst oline class in the top 20+ (I got tired of looking). The constant misreading of the staff as to where they've stood with guys has been a killer.

We have a supreme talent at QB and multiple big time talents at RB. It should not be this hard for us to get some linemen as we are prepping for a 4th consecutive playoff appearance. They've still carried too small a board and been too slow in expanding it. Tristan Miller just decommitted from NC State and is a decent prospect that we should pursue but it doesn't look like we are. One offer going out to a project like Fritzsche is a pitiful effort stay in front of this.

It looks like they're finally expanding the recruiting for 2020 and the guys we have so far are a decent start. We're playing with fire with regards to depth though. One injury in 2019 could spell big trouble and our depth is probably going to be worse in 2020 depending on how we finish that class and how ready the guys are to play. ND is trying to get back into it with Paris Johnson JR. and there's no reason we shouldn't as well.

We need Dehond to get healthy and hopefully be the real deal, the same goes for Vinson. Then Carman as well, then maybe will be okay. We're looking very thin. Anyway, maybe we need a younger OL coach, not because Caldwell isn't awesome, because he is great, but maybe it gets used against us in recruiting? Who knows?

We're getting killed by the age thing. Younger coaches tend to relate better to players. Part of the reason Pittman is so successful is because he basically acts like a teenage and has a very juvenile sense of humor. Caldwell has hard time keeping up when they're not on campus. During his recruitment Webb said the guys he heard from the most were Pittman and Key(Bama). We can't be getting outworked for guys when the need is that great. Pearman isn't much of a help either and may actually be the larger problem, especially with our lack of TE production through the last two seasons and our general special teams play.

But yes we're thin and we need those guys to contribute and contribute a lot going forwards. It's why we should be carrying greater number though because there are always going to be OL who either don't pan out or are injured. It's just a position where you have to plan for attrition.

You were right when Dabo waa hired...he sucked...they all suck...get rid of them. I am certain you are better at your job than these losers we have for coaches...DISGRACEFUL

It's not about ripping people but we have the worst OL class among all power 5 teams and could potentially be in danger of not being able to field 5 capable starters in 2020 which could seriously hinder our ability to make a title run on a team that should be primed for it otherwise in Lawrence's junior season. Even without Thibodeaux Bama is about to probably have the best defensive line class in the country and with the numbers they'll have probably the best in quite some time. Somebody is going to have to block them.

inspired by people who can’t make decisions between awful teams like FSU and UT over us. After seeing what Dabo has done here, there’s no way I’d buy what those guys are selling. I want the guys that visit here, talk about how much they love it, and don’t leave everyone hanging about the commitment. Those are the real Tigers. So probably in the long run they are doing us a favor so we don’t end up with another Belk.

He's making an emotional decision based on having the strongest relationships with the FSU staff. We're also in the "hope strings eternal" stage where FSU's awful season is in the rear view and Taggart is able to hide the fact that he's in way over his head.

Having a bad record is one thing, but a team being that unfocused and unprepared week after week with the coach who has 8 years of HC experience is just awful, but he's a fairly effective used car salesman.

At some point the finger has to point to the guy doing the OL recruitment.

Some of it's strategy. They gave out a lot of offers early in 2017 and when guys committed early they didn't have options to pursue guys they may have had higher on the board. There was an over correction in 2018 and 2019 where they were too stingy giving out offers and we're where we are now. We'll probably wind up with three in this class, guessing a long term project and maybe a three star type that doesn't sing next week (go after Darius Washington coaches), but the numbers still haven't been enough to offset the relative talent we've taken in.
