Spending $7.900,000 for operating expenses is excessive. IPTAY Reps are unpaid!!

Take your refunds and pour them back into IPTAY

Aug 4, 2020, 9:27 AM

If tickets are refunded, send that to IPTAY. If everyone does that, they can hopefully ride out this year and HOPE for better days in 2021. My tickets have been purchased, and IPTAY donation was completed long ago. If I can't go and tickets are refunded, I'll send that amount back to IPTAY so they stay level this year, with my support anyway.

If everyone does this, and games come back 100% next year, then we will be fine. If no games next year, then we have a massive problem.

And another thing....not sure how this works legally, but...

Your IPTAY "donation" is not really a donation since you MUST contribute at a certain level to purchase tickets in certain seating areas. When you buy tickets, if no service is provided (games), then they are legally required to issue a refund for the ticket price. BUT, in the past for many decades, your IPTAY donation was just that, a donation. When they came up with the seat equity plan, that changed your donation to a payment, at least for the opportunity to purchase tickets. As such, I think IPTAY may be forced to issue refunds of "donations" IF you also purchased tickets. And that can hurt a lot if they have to refund tickets AND the IPTAY "donations" for those tickets.

Whatever they give back, if anything, I'll just send it right back to them. But I know a lot of people will not.

My question is... if I'm not able to buy tickets this year, then my donation is once again a true "donation". If I leave it with IPTAY, can I then use it as a write off on my taxes this year since I didn't receive anything from it?

as far as I know, IRS does not allow donations to colleges for athletic events that you attend, how will it be handled if you don't get tickets.. 2018 was last year I think donations were allowed to be deducted.?
