The next law California will be trying to pass:

If you don't make more than you spend, then you have to get paid more.

That would fix some of their budgeting issues.

With all that money being paid to athletes, they will certainly have to file state and federal income tax returns. All the free benefits they receive as student-athletes; tuition, meals, lodging and stipend will all be taxable income. Should help California balance its budget. That may be the only education many of the athletes will receive.

Its a little off topic, but I cant help it.

I have a client who has a daughter that lived in Cali for a number of years. This daughter, everyone in the family, is brilliant ('cept for one), but they are quirky - I'd give examples, but if I did someone would recognize who I am talking about.

Anyhow, this woman, terribly intelligent (truly), was in the office raving about the social services Cali offers and how, because everyone out there is so smart, the State is running a surplus ...

It is no surprise that even the very smart can be mistaken, but this was a cult like allegiance not based on fact. Those folks, and those they influence, just dont see the world as we do. They may be as different from us as we are from the Brits - or even more so.
