I know a lot of coaches wear ball caps on the sidelines

but has any one ever worn a cowboy hat instead? I think that would be pretty baddass, especially if the entire staff did it. This would intimidate the other team/ coaches and shut the opposing fans up quick. I am surprised you do not see this more.

I would not want to mess with this coach.

Bum Phillips was one heck of a coach,

and some say an even better bridge player. Don't let that look fool you. He's smart as a whip.

You beat me to it, and I just now saw your post. He is the only one I could think of, too.

Only one I can recall...

and, of course, Tom Landry wore a Fedora.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Let's start a movement for the coaches to wear Orange 10-Gallon cowboy hats during the epic home tilt against Wyoming . A$$less chaps would also be a nice touch , but optional .

Bum Phillips always did, I think, when he was coaching at Houston, I think.

He never wore a hat in the dome. He said his Mother told him to take his hat off when he came inside.

The only NFL game I ever went to was in Houston when Bum Phillips was their coach. I think he also wore cowboy boots and a large belt buckle (might be wrong on that).

Heck of a coach.
