New coach Will Muschamp is carrying on a tradition started by the Ol' Ball Coach himself, when Spurrier gave out SEC 5th Place rings after the 2011 season. "I thought the team deserved some recognition for a splendid 2015 season" said Muschamp. "I wasn't a part of it, but to finish 14th in a conference like the SEC is really something to be proud of. You're talking about SEC teams with SEC players and SEC coaches playing in SEC venues... not everybody can say that".
Muschamp also noted the strength of the SEC conference from top to bottom. "You know, this South Carolina team was only a play away from upsetting The Citadel. You look around at the rest of the league, and Arkansas gave Toledo all they wanted before falling just short. Ole Miss barely lost to Memphis, and Memphis finished 3rd in the West Division of the American Athletic Conference. That says it all."
As a special treat for fans, a limited number of SEC 14th Place Commemorative Rings will go on sale May 1 for $399.00 each or $499.00 each for orders of two or more.
