I have seen a few threads where some have concern about

Jun 15, 2020, 1:56 PM

our OL. We did lose a lot of experience but we played a lot of players last year and rotated people throughout the game. I believe we will not take as large a step backward as some think. An advantage is that they will go up against a very talented and fast DL in practice. Opposing defenses will seem slow compared to the young men our OL practices with.

I hope you're right. It's tough to replace experience on the OL.

You're right, the OL will have an advantage of practicing against a very good and very fast defense every day. And our punishing run game will be wearing down opposing defenses.

Great points! Steel sharpens steel and getting good snaps in as rest for starters and “garbage time”.

Good offensive line play is about strength and agility. The Tigers should be ok with that. Coach Caldwell is very capable of developing these guys in the next few months. I’m sure the coaches will game plan around any weakness that the Tigers May have. I never felt like the OL was a strength of last years team. It also appears that there is a focus on the OL in this recruiting class. I hope so because it all begins up front when that ball is snapped.

The OL has a shot at a 7500 season

Jun 15, 2020, 4:31 PM

I'll take 4300 through the air and 3200 on the ground.

Only if that adds up to 7500 that is

Stay well MFO and Go Tigers!

I’m concerned about our OL but not like I would have been in the Bowden years. The good news is that we have great coaches and great skill guys to give us a better chance to overcome the growing pains. If they’re big, mean, tough and nasty that will go a long way in the run game while they jell together and learn the pass protections.

For many years we have considered our OL as the weak link in our team. But we have seen a gradual improvement in recent years that has allayed some of my fears. It takes a while to develop an OL where he can become a starter. The talent we are getting now appears to be more "game ready" than the OL of several years ago. Maybe I'm too optimistic but I believe we will be OK.

You are so right , Joe . Coach Caldwell gets tired of fans downplaying our O line play . I really don’t get it , either .

Guys , we didn’t make the CFP 5 consecutive years without EXCELLENT O lines .
