I have a question about JCo Transfers

Sep 17, 2012, 8:01 PM

When is the last time we had a Bad### jco come in and just wreck ship on defence. Do we still go after JCo transfers.

Cory Groover comes to mind, he was a force a DT

Sep 17, 2012, 8:11 PM

Plus he could really dance, or at least thought he could.

Johnny Rembert comes to mind, but that was a loooong

time ago. He was All-ACC and had a great pro career at LB.

FSU's right offensive tackle from Switzerland played at New Mexico Military JC. My brother contacted Clemson last Summer to see if they had any interest in recruiting him and was told the "Boss" wasn't interested in JUCO players. He then contacted FSU and was signed when he graduated last December. This is the same recruit who opened up the right side for the 2 TD runs from scrimmage against Wake.

Clemson has something called the AARC, which is

an academic review committee and they have final say whether or not an athlete gets into Clemson. You do see the odd Juco occasionally in baseball and basketball and, of course, the football team takes players they've placed in some of the academies.

The kids at the prep school aren't juco players

Sep 17, 2012, 9:59 PM

They come in as true freshmen. The stuff they do at prep school doesn't count for college credit. There is a cut off where kids don't qualify, but do qualify for prep school, and then there are the kids who don't qualify for prep school either...we can't sign those kids.

We don't accept JuCo credits

Sep 17, 2012, 9:22 PM

Therefore we don't except JuCo's...like the U.T. stud receiver from South Carolina, or their mountainous D.T. Which is why we don't recruit on a level playing field.

Maybe it's different for baseball

Sep 17, 2012, 9:48 PM

Perhaps it's different for qualifiers vs non qualifiers out of high school...but I'm positive that Clemson football does not accept or recruit JuCo players.

Clemson doesn't take JCo players, they apparently can't qualify at clemson, no idea why though

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I answered that question in the above response

Sep 17, 2012, 9:27 PM

We no longer accept JuCo credits...so no JuCo players...it is beneath us to want to compete in recruiting with teams in the SEC...ACC...Big 10....Big 12...Mac....MEAC...etc.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Shane Kennedy came from a juco Santa Fe

Sep 17, 2012, 9:44 PM

So idk what to tell you

Sep 17, 2012, 10:05 PM
