But how can a democracy (or any society for that matter) function if the people are so often lied to and misled.

I don't know how we can get all of this misinformation (all over the political spectrum) in hand, but I don't know how we can continue to govern ourselves if we don't.

I know its a Sorkin show and it got panned for being very left leaning...BUT, what gets lost is that at the time with all the tea party stuff going on...I thought the show did a decent job of portraying what an actual old school Republican (Will) should/would have thought about the Republican Party’s hard shift to the right, especially after Obama was elected. The show probably was ignored by most of those on the far right and it could get a bit preachy...but I think it was solid and had some very good (and accurate) moments like the clip you linked. Wills’s speech in S1E1 is my favorite.

And hope the truth can rise. If this administration has proven anything, it's that we can't trust government officials to tell us what is actually the truth. Or determine what information is discerned as such.
