if it only matters what voters think?
Florida looked very mediocre in a few other games this year.
Not sure how teams can beat their opponents and the voters. Seems like college football is the only sport where this happens.

there are certain teams where you can't ignore the eye test

for the better and for the worse
off the top of my head from the VERY begining just watching the games you could tell which teams were LEGIT and which teams were "frauds"......now granted a Win is a Win is a Win, but the eye test can go a long way
example UF DESTROYED SCar.....I'm a clemson fan saying UF is not better than SCar
ND got DESTROYED in the NC game and there are probably 10 other top 15 teams that woulda done similar.....or at least won that game.........ND while they went undefeated they scraped by in many games
OREGON got beat by stanford........OREGON is the better team
the eye test goes a long way IMO, don't think the computers take that into consideration

But, how much weight does the eye test get? As franc

points out, why even play the game if the actual game isn't going to carry the most weight?
I can see maybe in a close game, but there can be no doubt that Louisville is a better football team than Florida - none whatsoever.
Was VT better than us last year? Hayull NO! We throttled them twice and were CLEARLY not only better, but dominant. Yet, they passed the "eye test".
It's just wrong any way you try to twist it. The eye test is heavily influenced by hype and propaganda. Screw it.

I don't think VT passed the eye test at all last year.......

not IMO
they were a stagnant team that squeaked out some close wins with better players and a decent defense.
That to me is what Florida was this year
i thought early on that Oregon and Alabama were the 2 BEST college football had to offer
Oregon blew out EVERYBODY they played and lost in OT to a good stanford team that IMO oregon woulda beaten 8 outta 10 times
The way alabama plays is a spectacle within itself bigger, stronger, faster..........and to be honest i think TAMU beats them prolly 7 outta 10 (a matchup thing)
either way you're NEVER gonna have a perfect way.
IMO the BEST TEAM hands DOWN in the country during the BCS era has finished the regular season in the TOP 4 AT LEAST...............that's why i say have a plus one and be done........no more than 4 teams

I don't know what you mean. It's simple math.

Florida is ahead of Louisville in the poll because more voters put them ahead, most likely because they thought Florida was better.

Not necessarily true

Since the poll is not a "who do you think is better between 2 teams" then your statement is not necessarily true.
We can not say with certainty that more voters placed Florida ahead of Louisville. I'm guessing that what you said is what happened, but we don't know that for sure.
Simple scenario where it'd be false:
3 voters. Voter#1 : LOUISVILLE 5th, FLORIDA 6th Voter#2 : LOUISVILLE 5th, FLORIDA 6th Voter#3 : LOUISVILLE 10th, FLORIDA 5th
Lousville : 21pts + 21pts + 16pts = 58pts Florida : 20pts + 20pts + 21 pts = 61pts
So, even though 2 of the 3 voters had Lousiville above Florida, the style of confidence voting (which the poll is a form of) allows for Florida to actually be ranked above Louiville.

College football has turned into the American Idol of sports.

which is stupid and retarded in and of itself. If a team isn't as good as we thought, don't "drop them down" or if a team is better than we thought, don't "raise them up"
just put the teams from 1-25 where they belong. Don't worry about XXXX was #3 last week, ad lost so they should fall mmm... 5 slots. YYYY was #16 and won, so they can come up 4 slots!
Louisville played better than Florida. Based on the body of work, Florida is a better team, but Louisville showed they're good too. So at WORST they should be 1 place or maybe 2 behind Florida, and both should be in the 12-15 range.

And has the same record? Should Texas A&M also be in the #12-15 range? Florida beat South Carolina, should SC be in the #12-15 range? Wait, South Carolina killed Georgia, so the Dawgs shouldn't be in the Top 15. But wait, Georgia beat Florida!

you can't determine if a team is better than another team based on a one game sample size, and what happens last year is not relevant to this year.
So we can't say based on the one game THIS year that USuC is better than Clemson!
So how big of a sample size do we need? Say 100 years worth! Just sayin'!

View the season as a whole. What did the team do? One game should not determine a placement, except in an absolute tiebreaker.

going undefeated the way ND did wasn't very impressive and gave insight early on that they were not the #1 team in the country
Florida is another I don't even remember the team (LaLafayette?) where Florida needed a blocked punt to win. Their QB at one time vs SCar had 4 TD passes and 50 something passing yards
Georgia got progressively better each week.......and I think SCar is to UGA as Clemson was to VT in 2011..........it's a matchup thing and no matter how many times they played SCar and Clemson were going to win

So since Fla and LSU beat Texas A&M they should be ranked higher.
Very juvenile point of view.
Ever see the yearly end of year example of because some team beat some team then my team should be the national champ? Very naive point of view.

yes Louisville would beat UF 9 outta 10 Oregon would beat Stanford probably 7-8 outta 10 there are many teams that would beat ND 9 outta 10

UF has looked stagnant all year
got TAMU early it sounds crazy, but i think SCar beats UF 9 outta 10 (to me that 30 something point win was a fluke as odd as that sounds) they needed a blocked punt to beat some team that had no business athleticly being on the same field as UF
look, credit to UF b/c they went 11-1, but to me they are a 9-3 type team........maybe 8-4

that UF isn't the "high ranker" that they are
as opposed to saying Louisville should be higher
look when you lose 2,3,4 times in the regular season you don't have an argument IMO
but when you're splitting hairs b/w the TOP undefeated and 1-loss teams you really have to pass the eye test as well
