Trying to pay my student loans today Nelnet is saying they don't have any of my information.
Yelling at their incompetence might have actually gotten them to forgive my loan.

when I graduated law school, I negotiated

a rate of 1% (via collective bargaining with other borrowers).
The rate was contingent on 1) paying first 12 payments on time and 2) setting up auto pay. Mine were also through nelnet.

Mine went from a state teacher loan

to a federal Stafford loan without me doing anything. That's when it went from 2% to 6%.
If my interest rate was 1% I wouldn't be worried about paying it off as much.

or no idea they have the option to sell the loan.
Blows my mind how people think they can sign up for a loan and then not have to repay the loan. Just insane.
