I was in American History class when it happened. A sad day in America's Space Program.

I was walking to the Lee Hall for class and someone leaving the building told me about it. I remember it was a crystal clear morning, but cold. Sad day.

I had come back from a morning class and saw guys watching it on TV. Everyone was in silence. Sad morning. I remember it was cold and clear that day at Clemson too.

Indeed - very sad ... That’s one of those events that you remember exactly where you were when you heard the news ... -<img border=">

If people were as good as their obituary - and products were as good as advertised - this would truly be a wonderful world !!

I was a month away from my 25th birthday. I was scheduled to start a new job at Milliken the next week. That was truly a terrible day. I always thought of myself as an astronaut (that has not stopped to this day). I saw in some movie where it was said (and I paraphrase), "There are 2 types of people; you're either an astronaut or an astronomer. The astronaut accepts the risk whereas the astronomer seeks the safety associated with the job."
I will never ever forget that day. God speed to all of the brave men and women that take the risk of pushing the envelope.

I was in Chicago exhibiting my company's products at a trade show, and it was bitterly cold. The temp was below zero degrees with a hard wind blowing off the lake. The Bears had won the Super Bowl a couple of days prior, and the city went from cloud 9 to total gloom.

I was there at Kennedy Space Center as a 20 yr old co-op student picking up OT working as a guide on a bus going to the VIP viewing stands. I had the second and third places teachers on my bus. It was cold that day and I can still remember how it looked and felt and then gathering people up and getting them back to the visitor center. Then going back to the lab and seeing my older colleagues who had lived through the Apollo days and better understood what had just happened.
