Gruden rumors ... how many NFL guys have been able to
Nov 14, 2017, 1:40 PM

How many NFL guys have been able to take over a college program and have great success? I mean consistent CFP caliber success?
Are there lots of examples to justify why a program with the tradition and resources to attract a really good young college coach might see any logic in throwing mega bucks at John Gruden?

Why in the world would Gruden leave the sweet deal he has now to go to be a college coach at a dumpster fire of a program? I've seen nothing from Gruden to indicate he has the slightest interest in coaching at the college level. Too many headaches with recruiting, schizoid alumnus, and dealing with academic eligibility stuff that he just doesn't have to put up with. Gruden is a pro guy (if he ever goes back to coaching) and Tennessee fans are living in fantasy land if they think he is coming to the rescue of their dumpster fire program.
Lastly - Gruden's been out of the coaching game a while (especially at the college level) - why is everyone looking at him as the next college coaching messiah when he has never done anything special at the collegiate coaching level? His last college coaching gig ended in 1990 (27 years ago) and he wasn't even a head coach at the time...

Would kill it in the College ranks.
Just my opinion.
Imagine Belichick coaching Tennessee. They would punish everyone.
Heck he could take East Carolina to the CFP.
