with the word "piece". They advertise a 5 piece bedroom set and show a picture of a bed, dresser, 2 night stands and a storage bench.

Oh, the bed is 3 of those pieces!!! what the heck?

wrong... The 5 piece set is

Bed (They count the headboard, footboard and frame as 3 pieces)
Dresser (without the mirror, that's considered another piece)
1 Nightstand

To get what was in the picture is considered an 8 piece set and another $1500
