Williams says defensive line playing with a chip on their shoulders

Rising sophomore defensive tackle DeShawn Williams says that the defensive line understands when fans and critics say the line could be a weak link for the 2012 defense, and that has caused a sense or urgency with he and his fellow tackles. Full Story »

I like how Venables is already reserved in

his use of superlatives. He says "like" and "good" or "decent" instead of blowing up these guys and getting them too confident. Also, makes me believe it's both too early to make solid judgements and if we don't compare to the players he had at Oklahoma, then we know we'll have room to improve both in practice and recruiting.

Sometimes, instead of "saying all the right things," it's better to have sometimes have a person say all the things the right way.

I think our DL could be helped tremendously by good
play at LINEBACKER; which didn't happen last year.

On another note...

Am I the only one who has serious long term concerns
about Tony Steward; Just wondering...

I'm pulling hard for Tony Steward but yes I am concerned as well. He never should had played last season and my concern is him coming back to early again this year. Dissapointed he did not get the medical red shirt. Wonder if he should take this year off as well to fully heal. But that would be 2 years away from football. He is a great young man and I know he will succeed.

Take my word for it having torn both ACLs, his knees will...

Never be as good as they once were. They are not as strong and generally are a little more loose.

I'm willing to bet

he had better medical care than you did, and his physical structure is probably a little more capable of handling such injuries. That, coupled with a top notch rehabilitation, I like his chances.

Just sayin.

Correction: Grammar 101. "...sense of urgency with his fellow tackles and him..."
