Front Page Story: Chad Kelly is back

Chad Kelly is back

Chad Kelly, who tore his ACL during the spring, was cleared to return to practice last week, and head coach Dabo Swinney says Kelly could play Saturday night against Georgia if he is needed. Full Story »

I just don't understand how. He must not have torn it

completely or something. I know nothing about ACL's but I don't think I've ever heard of this quick of a recovery.

Maybe that "something in those hills" is some extra healing power. Great to hear we have our #3 back.

I dunno, from what I've read on the typical injury it takes six months to heal and six months to adjust the mind to make the body go full speed again.

If that's true then he's only about a month or so early. Evidently, he's already overcome the mental part.

I really don't expect to see him on the field for another five or six weeks.

I love what Chad Kelley brings to the team, and he has

such a positive affect on the team and every body around him. He brings a spirit and drive to the locker room that can not be imitated or replicated. A true love of the game helps when some one might not have it that day and look over at guy who has worked so hard to get back that and say Wow that guy wants to be here I should too. Go Get them Chad I hope all our Tigers play with as big of a heart that you have.

actually it never happened. chad was just looking for attention. just a little boo boo that needed some ice and rest. not the 4 months of #### the kid put himself through getting himself healthy. some of the things written in here truly boggle the mind.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg

No I was just saying that's really quick and really awesome***

Completely overanalyzing the the guy said. Some (most) of the sh*t you post truly boggles the mind.

If you believe what you have written, you need to get back on your medication.

Athletes can recover in 5-6 months. The surgery is getting

quicker and better as well, which is causing improvement for ACL repair. Mine was completely repaired and I was back to playing Ultimate Frisbee within 6 months.

An important factor is how flexible you are before the surgery.

not really doing a complete swing until 6-7.

the surgery, so it's not that unlikely he's making such a quick recovery.

I admire Chad for his tenacity and motivataion. However, there is no way he can have recovered from
a torn ACL in 5 months. Medical specialists say that a nine month recovery is a miracle, and a year is the norm. Even Tajh was guarded in his comments. In my opinion, this a disaster in the making. Doesn't the coaching staff have an obligation to protect these young men from themselves? We are going to need Chad next year. For god's sake let him fully recover. Is there a working brain on the coaching staff that will stand up to this folly?

You are not somebody to be talking about a brain OR pulse!!***

You haven't, because it's absolute BS.

Re: I just don't understand how. He must not have torn it

It was torn completely. It is something that is apparent on MRI, even if it were not, once in surgery, they would have seen it.

It is just a testament to Chad's hard work and the advancements we have made in medicine.

On a political note, stop expecting large gains in area of research and development. Thank you democratic party, affordable care act, and the majority of Americans that voted a bozo into office.

For god's sake he shouldn't be cleared.

Three Questions

Posted: Aug 27, 2013 10:02 PM

Are you an MD?

Are you an orthopedic surgeon?

Have you personally examined or viewed the Xray and MRI of either player?

that he gets to play the entire fourth quarter and ISN'T needed! I could handle another 63 - 17 score put on an sec team!

Let's give some credit...

to Danny Poole and his staff. He catches a lot of heat, but to have Chad Kelly ready to play this soon is quite a testament to the quality of the athletic training staff. Granted, it also took a lot of hard work on Chad's part, but the staff deserves a tremendous amount of credit. It'll be great to see him on the field some this season.

Great news; however, hope he is very cautious. Recovery is different for every person, but 4 months is pushing it IMO. Not an MD, but did stay at a holiday inn last night.
