For all Coach BB haters and others questioning his future

If I was Coach BB, I would be looking hard at a few things. If he feels that he cannot recruit better talented players to come to Clemson, then he should look to leave Clemson. It ain’t going to get any easier for him going forward. This 2018-2019 year after a Sweet 16 season has amped up pressure on Clemson basketball to perform.
He took Clemson to a place that is very very rare for Clemson basketball - Sweet 16. But Coach BB’s tenure of 9 years is Clemson basketball in a microcosm... few NCAA appearances, rare highlight year, several NIT apearances and a few below average seasons. Not much in terms of true basketball talent. Doing more with less. Only fan support when wining and that comes in late.
Clemson basketball has never consistently performed well. Never. Ever. There have been some bright years, but they are always followed by the return to Clemson’s historic norm. Does not mean that Clemson basketball can never be consistently a good basketball team making NCAAs 2 of every 3 years.
But The Tigers have reached the NCAA Tournament only 12 times in the modern era (1980, 1987, 1989, 1990, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2018) since the tournament expansion in 1980, advancing to the NCAA Sweet 16 four times (1980, 1990, 1997, 2018), with their best performance reaching the Elite Eight that very same year.[2]
Look at that history: 1980 makes it to Sweet 16 and Elite Eight. - Next year, they did not make NCAA tournament. Sweet 16 in 1990 and did not make it back to NCCAs the next year. Sweet 16 in 2018 and did not make it back to NCAAs the next year.
Only in 1997 did they make it to Sweet 16 and make in back to NCAAs in the next year (1998).
Only in history of Clemson basketball, the Clemson men’s basketball team has made it to back to back NCAAs only in: 1996, 1997, 1998 - Rick Barnes - curious to know how Clemson would be if he would have stayed. 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 - OPs 2008-2010 teams never won a game in NCAAs.
So Clemson returns back to its norm. If I was Coach BB, I would be looking internally and asking “Can I recruit what is needed to win here?” If he has doubts, he should leave.
If he can recruit what is needed and get better players, and can lead them to be consistently in the top 6 of the ACC and a top 40 program in the DI basketball, then he needs to get on it and get those players. Make it happen.
