These injuries do not end a career like they did way back when. Sure his knee will never be the same (I've torn my ACL too), but you can get back really good mobility and strength (especially with the weight training / therapy on the college / pro level).

Like Dabo mentioned, AP came back better than ever, and RG3 had a ACL tear at Baylor and still managed to win the Heisman. That in addition to being drafted in the 1st round, and have a heckuav Rookie year.
