What did they really expect !?!?!?!

Jan 19, 2019, 11:42 AM

Every decent coach they wanted turned them down because no one want to be at that coaching graveyard or at a school whose history is based largely on failure rather than success.

CussChamp was their 6th or 7th option and literally begged Tanner for the job because he knew Auburn was about to fire him, and Tanner was...well...out of options.

Ultimately, by most accounts, CussChamp was a failure at Florida; a school with superior talent, better facilities, and more resources than u of 5c, so why would the DirtPeckers expect some magical turnaround at u of 5c under CussChamp's leadership.

Just more grandiose delusions and over-exaggerated optimism.

I always wondered why they paid him 3 mill to start with

Jan 19, 2019, 11:53 AM

He would have come for a million or less!

Ray Tanner is clearly not a very good negotiator***

As long as the wimmens basketball program continues to win, Tanner will keep his job.

They just lost their fifth game of the season...

Jan 19, 2019, 12:22 PM

so the one and only thing they've have to crow about has started spiraling downward like a weak flushing toilet.

But Cootette basketball isn't doing that great. They're currently ranked 15th but just lost one so they should stay in the top 25 but not by much in the next ranking. Very few 5 loss teams in the women's top 25. They have 12 games left and one third are against ranked teams. That includes #2 UConn and they finish the season with #7 Miss St., who just beat them.

Gemeral Cootitude on having their flagship sport not doing as well as usual is "wait till next year."

I think they had to pay the extra millions or else...

Jan 19, 2019, 12:30 PM [ in reply to I always wondered why they paid him 3 mill to start with ]

...it would have been taken as a sign that they were acknowledging up front that he was not a highly valued "prize" coach. Just the dumbchit coot decisions these idiots make is baffling.

Well, it wasn't 3 million in cash.

2 million salary plus 1 million in Golden Corral Buffet coupons...

Boom was their first choice. They talked to a few others but

were always waiting on Boom. After Boom exhausted all of his other offers, Tanner sweetened the pot by a couple of million to close the deal. Jeanyus.

lawcalcoot had the irony running already

‘What fans do you know capable of evaluating positive coach hires’, he asks?
Muschamp hire was an obvious bust from the moment it was announced.
So I suppose the simplest answer to his question is Ours.
