The Ivy League is the first conference announcing all collegiate sports are cancelled until January.

Thoughts for Tiger football this fall?

Well then they forfeit their games and hopefully will have to pay the non performance fee's in their contracts... unnecessary but their call. They have protests to manage, this football and basketball stuff is not in line with school policies...

They only play other Ivy League schools

and similar regional schools like Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh. Likely no fees to pay. Ivy League also has no athletic scholarships.

Thanks for asking for thoughts:

A large number of my friends work in the medical field. They are so exasperated that the MEDIA (and obviously some governors) focus on the negative spin. The real number is that for the most part, the number of deaths have seen no spike or positive trend in 8 + weeks (this includes the alleged "late reported" number. THAT is the important number.

I do not know the motive of the Ivy League's decision -- fear, perhaps?

I DO know that a large number of people will SUFFER in ways that won't be measured by stats if we cancel football (and other sports) and remove the right for people to watch games.

####. Let's think of it like this: MANY public schools are open to students and teachers to attend -- in the building. THey are also offering online options for those who do not wish to risk infection.

Should we as a nation not do the same? What happened to personal choice, freedom to choose? They allow women to "choose" whether or not to deny the child of their womb a right to live? Should we not, as a society have the right to choose whether or not our individual attendance is worth the risk? I do not agree with what this conference did, but having said that, football or basketball is not their bread and butter. To cancel the sports that provide a sense of community, common ground, livelihood, fun, OPPORTUNITy, etc. is to cancel personal rights. It's wrong on all levels to not allow adult men and women and other genders to choose whether or not to attend a football game. It is FAR WORSE to deny a young man or woman the opportunity to express his/her/their God-given talent or right that they've been working for, striving for, dreaming for all their lives. All Seasons Count!

We have a right to college football? I must have missed that part of the constitution.

Considering the fact that a player or coach could die from Covid-19, I'd like to propose the following hypothetical question:

If it would guarantee an effective vaccine, who in college football would you sacrifice for your right to watch games? I'm talking about taking them to an active volcano and forcing them to jump in. You would have to be there and it would be your job to force them to jump.

So who would it be?

Most people who get the virus are asymptomatic. The NCAA would be extremely cautious, taking all precautions. You didn't comprehend my post. I would sacrifice no one. Your volcano analogy is ridiculous. I would be willing to sacrifice my own health (taking precautions, of course) and I know my mother would be willing to sacrifice her own health (taking precautions) for the opportunity to see football. Just like parents who are willing to take the risk will send their kids t
o school. Those who are more skeptical will have their kids do online work for a while.

Who would it be? I would only make that decision for me. It would be those who decided to exercise their right to choose to go watch FB.

I'm just praying our numbers go down, dude -- so we can get on with life.

At this point I'd be happy with TV games.***

Football, basketball and other scholarships are given to young men and women that want a college education in probably 99% of the cases. Colleges and universities receive money for tuition, fees, housing and in return have an obligation to educate the students and to provide a safe environment for the students. In simple terms, the students are in the care of the schools. Sports are a huge part of college life but are not the reason the students are there. My children graduated from Clemson years ago and now we hope our grandchildren will be fortunate enough to also be Clemson grads and I trust that the university will continue to educate and care for students whether there is football or not.

Man - don't care about Ivy sports - but THIS would be great!
