Spiller and fleener gettin the bidness on the saints depth chart.

Hopefully that isn't the "real" depth chart though.

I just don't get it. He should crush in that offense.

RBs take the biggest pounding. Hopefully he has gas in the tank. I always thought he'd

Be a great return specialist like Hester. I don't think he has EVER been utilized the right way in the NFL.

I think his frequent, nagging injuries have thwarted

his ability to thrive against relentless competition. I agree about the way he has been utilized, but in the NFL, there are always a bunch of hungry, talented guys nipping at your heels, and if you miss a beat it's hard to catch back up.

Look at Andre Ellington - he was one of the hottest RBs in the NFL, and very highly regarded in Phoenix. One injury, and even though he's back to full strength, he's all the way back to 3rd string.

Pretty sure I commented awhile back this would happen!

Aug 17, 2016, 12:16 PM

Everytime I saw cj last year play he was explosive. But he can't do much we then don't play him. His agent needs to get him out of NO or his stock is going to plummet, and he won't be getting any $$ after his contract is up. He went from a starter who was underpaid ... to a nice paid 4th string.

Oh, you didn't get the memo, huh? Clemson players don't underperform... It's always the team they're on that's the problem.

Everyone said that when he was in Buffalo and everyone

Aug 17, 2016, 1:42 PM [ in reply to Spiller Needs A New Team ---- ]

thought that the Saints offense would be perfect for him when he got there. You have a hard time convincing me that he hasn't been successful because NFL coaches haven't figured out how to use him. More likely it's been a combination of his injuries and his shortcomings as a pure RB.

Carolina Panthers, bring Spiller home.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

didn't we say he needed new team when he was with the Bills

Aug 17, 2016, 12:56 PM

now he needs another new team?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He's getting close to not being on any team

Aug 17, 2016, 1:52 PM

With all the injuries and now with his age I'm afraid that CJ's playing days are coming to an end. It's a shame he never could obtain the success he had at Clemson in the league. He has stayed explosive but never could maintain the consistency to be a top RB even when not injured. The good thing is even when he's done playing he will be successful in whatever he decides to do, that's just the kind of person he is.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Don't forget CJ was running for us his last year when he could have been in the NFL

Aug 17, 2016, 2:18 PM

For that he will always be held in high regard for me

I'm just wondering how many other backs that don't have that to fall back on keep having these same type "nagging injuries." Money makes ya soft.

This whole depth chart is absolute garbage

Aug 18, 2016, 7:34 AM

Brandon Coleman ahead of Snead? One of their biggest FA pickups as 4th TE? I'm surprised Brees isn't listed as 3rd QB. This will change juuuuuuust a little bit by the time the season starts.

Re: This whole depth chart is absolute garbage

Aug 18, 2016, 7:25 PM

Snead is listed as co starter at WR with Cooks

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Cue the "team doesn't know how to use him" crowd:

Aug 19, 2016, 12:31 AM

Did you also say that when he was with Buffalo? Has it ever occurred to you that he just isn't star NFL running back material?

We all love CJ and want to see him succeed, but at some point we need to accept that there are better running backs. If that weren't true, he wouldn't continue to be a backup.
