the demise of the balloons is the exponential increase in the cost of helium. Same reason car dealerships have stopped using balloons on their cars.

virtually free. And with the right set up a LOT more fun. In fact, they could be self destructive and take care of the balloon problem too!

The beauty of burning hydrogen is that it reacts with atmopheric oxygen to form H2O, which is used to fight fires.
