Duke Game

Nov 16, 2018, 11:21 AM

Taking my wife to her first Clemson game and this will be my first night game in the Valley. Any tips for game day? Arrival time? Best places to eat? Parking? Thanks!

You married her without taking her to a game? Wow bold move.

I'd be sure to arrive by 3 for ease of traffic and having time to walk around. First time to a game, I'd try to go into the stadium an hour early, always fun the see the warm-ups and pregame hype. You could try eating at the Smoking Pig on your way in, it's 10 min from campus, best bbq you'll find. If you want to eat closer to the stadium, you could try the esso club or TD's. Should be a fun time!

Thanks! We're staying with friends in Taylors, so hoping that leaving by 1 will get us there with plenty of time for activities. That BBQ sounds great, might have to make that pit stop.

Leave early or stay late

The only drawbacks to a night game is that the vast majority of fans leave right after the game. This creates God-awful traffic jams. And, if you're parking at one of the public parking lots, be prepared to sit in that lot for an hour before getting out. However, it may not be that bad if we are up 30 in the 3rd quarter.

If you have options on parking, try to pick a spot that's on the 'way home' side of the stadium so you don't have to drive through Clemson when leaving.

Yeah, I'm already anticipating a very long time in traffic on the way home. But a win makes sitting in traffic easier
