Does Clemson blow out Bama with SEC refs?

Jan 17, 2019, 10:42 AM

I think we still would win, but there would have been some phantom calls to keep is close.

There were plenty of non calls that Bama got in the offensive line. I watched a replay and counted at least 8 obvious holding calls during their 3 scoring drives. So no it wouldn't have made difference. That don't include the PI calls that should have been called. We did have a couple of PI's as well that weren't called. The announcers even talked about 1 targeting that probably should have been called on Bama. So no, the Refs seemed to let both teams play ball and not call any unnecessary penalties.

On Bama holding

They were holding on almost every play. They were doing the same thing last year too but never got call for holding. This year our guys adjust to the refs so holding on both side might have happended.

No, but if we had Ron Cherry, we would have lost 44-16!

Refs can change a game with a few bad calls.

Jan 17, 2019, 12:10 PM

A couple to extend drives and a couple to keep a team behind the chains and a close game isn't close. Imo, it would have taken more to beat Clemson than a few bad calls.

Do you need ready-made excuses?

The Pac12 refs didn't call Bama for holding either...

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.
