Do you remember the first game televised from DV?

The first game I ever remember coming from DV was in 1976 when we played NC State. I remember how big a deal it was seeing the TV trucks down at the stadium. And the TV people had to run cables all around the stadium because there were none of the installed systems like there are now. Plus, in those days, there weren't the wireless systems they can use now.

It was a Noon or 1 pm game as I remember. I remember deliberately waiting watching the start of the game in the lounge up above the Loggia just to see us come on TV. Sure was a big deal!!

Now, we expect every game we play anywhere to be on TV. But back then it used to be that only the "big teams" ever got to play on TV.

Orange shoes State game was on in 67.***

If I was a betting man, I would take 1 pm as the start time in '76. I don't believe noon games on TV were a thing back then and I don't believe TV controlled all the start times.

I think I remember the first televised night game in the modern era in DV in '92 and they had to bring in auxiliary lighting because the stadium lights weren't bright enough to televise a night game.

Yeah, I think you're right about the 1 pm start - and I.....

remember the temporary lights posted at each of the four corners of the stadium. Was really weird going to a night game in DV!!!

Pretty sure we played GA on TV in 1976. My freshman year. They whipped Ole Red Parker’s Tigers. He did beat USuC but wasn’t enough to save his job. Then came Pell.

The orange shoes game might be right but I vaguely remember a Duke game which was a regional broadcast about 1964-1966. We were always a regional game and sometimes it preceded a west coast national game, ND- USC or Stanford-Cal. I do remember the SC game would have been televised in 1963 but President Kennedy being killed in Texas postponed the game.
