Did Burch not attend this week’s camp? I’m getting real

nervous about our chances with him. Seems like we are slipping away. Big Georgia friend of mine in Atlanta called me today asking about him. After I said about how I thought we had him at one time but, because his QB is Muschamps son, and a teammate just committed to USux, he told me that Georgia feels real good about getting him.

Anyone know any scoop about his status?

The consensus here has been that he’s a coot lock

We lost Burch long ago. Focus on the guys interested in being Tigers and not Coots. Jordan Burch is a lost cause for us. And we are fine at DE. He will learn all about that in a year or so!

It does make u scratch your head, when you talk about having the college experience for sum recruits and then you see the selfness being made in a decision like that, because the decision for him not to attend Clemson is probably based on his momma getting the job thru a usuc booster, and that my friends is a selfish decision, and I did not say Burch made a selfish decision, but you should be able to see how that decision is being made.... Too bad because his college life would have been about championships and titles, instead it will be family reunions in the roach, wow that hurts to write...

The one thing that we don't hear under Dabo's leadership, we don't hear of boosters having to give parents jobs that they don't qualify for, and could never and a day get those jobs on their own merit. If not for their kids athletic talent, they would remain the rug at the back door for most employment opportunities!!!

Not actually pointing the finger at no one player, just saying that it's great that Dabo and our don't do under the table ######## like that, and I absolutely believe that it's bc our staff don't want recruits that don't want to be at Clemson as much as they want them at Clemson. In fact, we get top walk-on's that are willing to pay their way at Clemson over accepting a full ride at other schools. But I'm sure there are schools that a coaching staff will help a high value recruit parents to get jobs through booster that they couldn't get where they wasn't a booster willing to employee them without a talented son that they were after. And I do believe that should be just as bad as a bag man handing out cash bc, the parents are getting paid more money on the booster jobs, that they couldn't have gotten without their son being a big time recruit that most schools were after, but without a job for the parents!!!!

You can hear anything when buying into internet rumors. I don't know the situation with his mother, but A) even several Clemson posters have mentioned that the owner isn't a South Carolina fan, B) how do you know she isn't qualified for the job?

It's interesting how we all make fun of, and bash South Carolina fans when they accuse us of cheating, but so many are quick to buy into rumors and point the finger at them in the same way. Or if someone isn't accusing someone of cheating it becomes a story of how the player is scared to compete, or of how the player wasn't going to play here for the first couple of years anyways. Which, it's funny how Thomas played a lot last year, and made some big plays for us. I read one guy on Facebook not long ago say we didn't need Burch, and how he thought Dabo only offered him in the first place in order to troll Muschamp...

Don't get me wrong, we have enough talent to where losing out on a player like Burch isn't going to kill us, but getting him would certainly help as well. I just don't get how people can't simply move on when we miss out on a guy, and feel the need to bash the player. The being scared to compete thing gets me the most. Was CJ Spiller scared to compete when he came here? Was Sammy Watkins, and any other highly ranked recruit that signed with us before we got on this run also scared?

I don’t see how anyone can have a strong opinion about Burch, because he nor his family or coach aren’t talking to anyone. I’ve heard the insider on the big spur say he has no clue where Burch is leaning and I’ve heard the exact same thing from Clemson recruiting insider.

Nobody knows . He'll probably end up a Tiger . All this " I heard from so and so " is just sports forum down-time banter . Harmless pontificating by thirsty fans .

But nervous? We are to the point a recruit doesn’t swing our program that much. We’ll be just fine.

Exactly. This obsession with Jordan Burch has gone way too far. I actually respect the way he is handling things. He's not doing anything to draw attention to himself, which is commendable.

I think some are spoiled by the early commitments for this year's historic class and almost feel entitled as if he has no real choice but to choose Clemson.

A late commitment is as good as an early one. Same for a miss.

I'm in the minority but I wish more guys did it like Jordan Burch. If he chooses Clemson, he'll start off as my favorite freshman.

Hope to land him, but if not, ok. But would rather see him going anywhere than the coots. Anything that is good for them makes me unhappy.

He's not going to UGA. He's staying in-state and if he was already a lock to SCAR then he would already be committed. Our coaches are still in contact with him. It's going to be a recruitment that drags on for a while.

I think he will be attending all in cookout, don't remember it being confirmed that he would be camping here.

If he doesn't commit to the Coots before August, that's huge for Clemson's chances IMHO.

He'll get to watch us play in January while Muschamp is trying to explain to recruits how close they were to getting a 6th game to be bowl eligible.

You never know, but if that were the biggest factor for him then he'd probably already be committed to us. I'm not saying he doesn't care about winning, but I'm sure he's already fully aware that Clemson is very much ahead of South Carolina in terms of the winning at the moment.

If he wanted to go there it could be other factors such as location, playing with friends, who he pulled for growing up(I'm not sure who that is) or whatever. He could even want to be part of trying to elevate that program such as guys like Spiller, Watkins, Boyd, Watson, etc... did when choosing us before we started competing for national titles.

Improving a program the way that Dabo has done with Clemson, it will take a HC as smart and intelligent as Dabo or even more so. We are talking about trying to get a program that has had only one short term of 5 years of continuous success in a hundred plus years of existence. To get that FB program to even get miles away of the success that we have had since and before Dabo will mostly be impossible. And "IF" they were ever able to turn that program around for long term, it would have to be a younger Spurrier like coach to do that, and I actually do not believe that Muschamp is any where even close to being a young Spurrier like HC. IMO, Muschamp isn't any where close to being as intelligent as Dabo, and I don't believe he is close to a younger Spurrier in any way shape or form. IMHO, Muschamp is not the type of HC that it would take to turn the coot FB program around, he just can't and won't do it bc, what it would take to turn that program around is way over Muschamp's head as a HC!!! That head coaching job for success is way out of his Zip Code of know how. His time as HC at Florida proves my point bc, if he couldn't bring Florida back close to the top, what would make anybody with a clear mind think that he can bring the coots to having a winning program. It won't happen regardless of how much time they give him!!!

Muschamps record as a HC is 50–38 and he was one of the top DC before he became a HC, and Dabo's record as a HC is 116–30 and was never more than a WR coach without having near as many years as a college coach than Muschamp has as a DC/HC. Muschamp just doesn't have what it takes to be a successful college HC. He will never be the HC that Dabo has become, and Muschamp has twice as much college coaching experience than Dabo has. That alone should tell the story of how successful Muschamp will be as a HC in college FB.

I agree with you on Muschamp, and I certainly don't see them competing for any national titles anytime soon, or probably ever. However, when we won the ACC in 2011 it was our first ACC Championship in over 20 years, which just happened to be the first time we won at least 10 games in a season in over 20 years as well, and our NC in 2016 was our first in 35 years.

I realize that's compared to 1 lowly ACC title in the 60's for them, and no NC's, but we hadn't won anything of note since before high school recruits were even born prior to Dabo, so those recruits were certainly taking a chance on us.
