Maybe i am the onle one concerned about our defense? Is Venables D a upgrade? I know we played a lot of guys yesterday. but we gave up a ton of yards. Thoughts?

Everyone is still taking terrible angles, but at least the linebackers are attacking at the line of scrimmage instead of just standing there waiting to get blocked like last year.
Secondary looked better this week, if we'd just turn around and look for the ball when the receiver does and avoiding stupid PI penalties.
We won't know much until a few week from now.

Everyone keeps saying this but did no one notice that all the starters on defense, including Anthony, Goodman, Meeks, etc, played late into the 4th quarter?

Edited to reflect change. I do acknowledge that we pulled basically all the offensive guys in the second quarter.

There were definitely some teachable moments in the game yesterday. That said, we did play a lot of players and seemed to be introducing some different wrinkles that I don't recall seeing against Auburn. I would not read much into struggles against Ball State or Furman. The key is how we learn from yesterday and next Saturday and bring what we learn to Tallahassee on the 22nd.

get fired at 9AM for not having done the job yet?
Of course we have problems on defense but for heaven's sake give BV a chance and enough time to fix it.
BV had to tear out before he could remodel. Somewhere toward the end of this season we should notice radical differences in what BV started with and what we will end up with.

You hit the nail on the head. You can only do so much with players you did not recruit and do not understand their skillset until a few games in. This is def not is first rodeo. Things will get better. Wait and see.

With all that being said the secondary did show improvement yesterday. I do recall our offense being vanilla early last year.

I think a lot of us are concerned about our defense,but if you honestly thought Venables was going to give us a championship defense in only his first season,then maybe you need to go back and reread world history 101;Rome was not built in a day.
