Who knows, could be an Alabama situation where they claim titles they didn't actually win. Just just say in the year of 1978 24 entities picked a national champ. 7 chose Alabama, 8 chose Oklahoma and 9 picked Southern Cal. Well guess which one claimed the championship, you guessed it, all of them. I am sure you already know this but some may not. Before the BCS and Playoff, let's say for example, there were 20 entities picking a national champ for this make believe year well if just 1 picked Alabama then Bama would claim that championship. It wouldn't matter if the entity was the lowest of the entities picking a champ Bama would still claim it whether the NCAA recognised it or not. They still own the record for legitimate titles but c'mon let's stop with the 17, 18, 19 championships Bama.

Besides 1980 Georgia is considered the national champion in four other seasons in at least one national poll, according to the NCAA record book. The Bulldogs were the consensus champions in 1942 and 1980 but have three other titles that are recognized by the school due to their final place in various polls. Georgia claims championships in 1927, 1942, 1946, 1968,

That’s a joke, right? In 1968 Georgia finished 8th in the AP and went 8-1-2... and now you’re telling me the school is “claiming” that national championship? That is not only desperate but pathetic.
