As a African American guy I completely agree with our coach on Race and relations involving the anthem. I do believe there are others ways you can make a statement outside of putting yourself in the spotlight. When you get star status you have also gain alot of publicity, I think using that power in a positive manner will help much more than the alternative. The Anthem represents all people of this great nation and if anyone has a problem with treatment you should try another platform to voice your opinion. Oppression! The only ones oppressed are the ones who decide not to do anything about it, and im speaking a the most positive way. Thank you!!

Well said. I,am,a person of color and aproud tiger ..a double degree holder in engineering. Of course there are issues, and even some bad cops, but to say this is a racist, bigoted country that systematically oppresses is completely false, a slander on our nation and attack on its very fabric.

We're all in this together. It's not the Flag, the Pledge or the Constitution that's at fault, it's the people. A bad law can be easily changed but it is more difficult to change an attitude. The protests, in my opinion, are directed at the very heart of what allows them to protest rather than at the real problem. It sometimes appears to me we have people in leadership roles who continually add fuel to the flame rather than finding solutions to put out the flame. But, we have to keep trying.
