Current Clemson students, help please?

Jun 13, 2014, 6:33 PM

My stepson made a mistake and didn't pay his housing deposit on time. The Admissions dept was not very helpful. Can they not admit him? What is the next step?

Thanks in advance

yes.

First year students have to live on campus, so

There shouldn't be a problem with him being a student and not being able to get a dorm.

I would call the housing department as soon as you can. Is he registered as a student?

Yes. We are scheduled for Orientation on the 26th. He looked up his name on the housing website and it states
" Not accepted".

As long as he is a registered student, I assume he's good

I doubt they would take away his acceptance because of that. I would still call up to the housing department and get this settled ASAP.

He will most likely lose his priority in housing because of this, but hey, I'd rather stay in the nastiest overflow dorm room in Johnstone over the nicest dorm in Colombia. It'll probably still be nicer than anything in that dump ;)

Call financial services. I had the same issue a couple of years ago, and they were very helpful and understanding when I called. Mine was a summer tuition bill but I wouldn't think it to be much different.

If you are nearby, consider just driving over w/ step son

Going to the office could speed up the process rather than calling.

All of this is good advice

I would talk to the finance department and the housing department and definitely actually go to the office to talk to them. Once they see you actually come in they will take you a lot more seriously and it really expedites the process. If you haven't called yet I would call ASAP and then definitely go stop by the office during orientation. Some of the things at orientation aren't worth the time
