Could Shaq Smith breakout like Roquan Smith this year?

Just wasting some time the other day chatting with some friends about next years defense and this came up.

Very similar size and measurables, Shaq being a little taller and bigger. I think Roquan is a little quicker in a straight line and laterally but Shaq was known for his quickness as well coming out of high school I believe.

Shaq was ILb vs Smith OLB but I think Shaq could easily play either. Both are big hitters and solid tacklers.

Anyways I hope this is breakout year and that he dominates, makes a name for himself similar as to Smith did last year.

What y’all think?

We can hope he does because I have a feeling that if he doesn't see a bigger role coming out of spring practice he could be the next one to transfer. Go Tigers

I hope he has a great year. I was so excited when we got him but he hasn’t done much sense being here. Hopefully 2018 is his breakout year.

If it all comes together this spring I think he's one to look out for as a replacement for DOD at SAM. He's pretty big but if he can stay low from what I've seen he has the athleticism to function in coverage.

I thought he looked great in last years spring game but If I remember right didn’t he get dinged up in fall practice and missed some time? I’m hoping he gets a chance to replace ODaniel. Not sure if he has the speed and coverage skills but the few glimpses we have seen he looks like playmaker!

some just take more time. He is very athletic. Got the tools to play but got to learn the system. I beleive in high school, he could just react.
