They have never won anything of any substance, because they are coots, and that is their mantra. They always try to take the easy road, hiring "special" coaches, etc., but they have shallow heart, and what they do is so superficial. They don't do the hard work it takes to build a solid program from the ground up. They think a big name coach or belonging to a certain conference, etc. is all it will take for them to be "champions". If it were that easy, there would be a lot more "champions". They just don't get it, and I doubt they ever will.

Yep, just like that. And their coach has that same stupidly wild eyed insane look as the private who went crazy in that movie, also.

It won't matter, even with a new coach they will stink. They had a HALL OF FAME coach for 10.5 seasons, won about 50% of conference games, 1 division title and some bowl games. They had a good run against us for a few years, but Dabo set that record straight.

Isn't Clemson scared of what they're building?? I know I am.

Todd Ellis thinks so too.

Machamp is doing a great job, and who do they think they are? They should just be thankful for what they've got and quit pretending they're Alabama, or Clemson.

Has everyone forgotten the main reason for their situation in life? THE CHICKEN CURSE!!!! Remember they even tried to have the curse removed by their former Hall of Fame Coach. LOL.

That limited and marginal success....

was just the Chicken Curse setting them-up for even more disappointment in the future.

The Chicken Curse is a cruel beast but it couldn't be happening to a more deserving bunch.

I think there is a serious answer for their issues in football and academics. It is their Board of Trustees. Their board consists of political appointees who lobby the SC legislature and beg for the job. Governor Foghorn Leghorn is Chairman of their board. Our board is primarily made up of business people who want to serve Clemson University not politicians who want to serve themselves. It is telling if you compare y the process of hiring our AD versus their hiring of their AD. Ray Tanner was a great baseball coach. Somebody please tell me how that qualifies a person to be an AD. The AD's job consists of many business decisions regarding revenue streams. It also involves hiring coaches for all sports, negotiating their contracts and managing them after they are hired. The fact that U of SC extended Muschamp's contract after only two seasons and provided for a buyout of over $2,000,000 is all you need to know to understand how screwed up their athletic department is. And the Board of Trustees approved the contract apparently without anyone seriously questioning it.

The buyout was over $20M, not $2M. It's dropping as time passes, but it is still MASSIVE...especially when you consider performance.
