used a word three years ago that is offensive to all African-Americans people. It doesn't really matter how a white person uses this word it offends people of color.

Therefore the word should be banned by everyone of every race. It should carry a penalty of being dismissed from not only the sports community but the university.

But the penalty must be the same for EVERYONE of every skin color, then this very offensive word can be banished from our society.

No one gets special privilges when using this word not in private conversations, not in tweets or text messages. Let's really take a stand and totally stop the use of this word.

I think EVERYBODY needs to lighten up.

Sure, there is a lot of hypocrisy surrounding who gets to use the "n" word and who doesn't. You know what? Black people can use it, or not. I could care less, I'm not remotely offended. I choose not to use it, and that's my choice.

We don't need more rules, that's the last thing we need. Rules are for little babies. It's been handled by adults.

The only real problem is for people who want to make problems for EVERYBODY else. You start making rules to legislate behavior with the lowest common denominator of society and the next thing you know smart-people vanish, and nobody can go to the bathroom without a note from the teacher.

Thanks, but no.

I am also against more rules and am not offended when black people use it although I choose not to use it. If I am called a cracker or other slang for white people i have no cares left to give as it is the other persons right to choose their words and my right to not care what they say. But if everyone has the right to express themselves and the word is used every minute in black culture then accept that some white folks may use it on purpose or a slip of the tongue from time to time and it will not be the end of the world. One standard for everyone whatever is agreeable to everyone

I coached for 32 years at the middle and high school level. I did not have a problem with kids using the word until around the year 2000 and then it became a term that many black kids were using each day. I had a team meeting with parents and players and told them the punishment for the use of the word. I also told them I did not care what their skin color was it was the same punishment for all.

You must realize that blacks call each other that word all the time. Someone needs to come out with a protocol on what white people are supposed to say. This has gotten to the ridiculous point in race relations.

Actually many blacks have established personal standards of decency that prevent them using it...at all.

The only way to put the word in the dustbin of history is to make it history.

Ok, who decides what words should be banned? Is this the ONE magic word? Do we create a bureau? Then, how do we figure out the offending words going forward? Yearly census? Final question. When are the book burnings?

So funny. I have a black friend you called me by that word, and I'm white. I'm glad that my friend is not as sensitive as most.

In 20 years as an enlisted Marine, we called each other things that would cause a safe space to spontaneously combust. Black, white, Hispanic. But you better believe we’d run through he11 with gasoline drawers on for each other. Can you imagine Blazing Saddles being made today? SMDH

Elect those trying to push America to socialism and then the government will tell you what you can and cannot do and say. If you want BIG Government put socialist candidates into office. Personally I like my freedom. I don’t want a #### thing from the government.

The 1st amendment of the Constitution prevents all of your suggestions. It’s time children a ###### the nursery rhyme sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me. How can you be upset or offended by white people other than your friends or family or loved ones say about you? People need to grow up and quit acting like a bunch of five-year-olds.

Lol.

I'm not laughing AT you. I'm laughing at Tigernet for censoring your post about censorship.

You tripped a wire somewhere.

Yet we WANT Tigernet to exercise some controls, don't we? Some censorship--or "adjustments for community content"--are understandable.
