What do you folks think about what Brent is doing with our D?
Is ridiculous, imo. Later he will have a seasoned Dline to go with that "back 7" scheme. Oh the possibilities!

Not sure if we have the d tackles this year to make a switch unless someone can step up. And he is playing to the strength of the team. BV has been even more brilliant than ever this year. Man Missing on Belk etc really but us.

Other than option teams, who really lines up and runs it anymore? Jawja? Bama doesn't, not anymore. This D is hinged on the versatility of Simmons, Muse and Wallace. They play all over and come from every direction. We pressure with freak athletes at DE and blitz combos from 8 different people.
On the goalline when we needed the hogs, they stepped up. BV is simply playing to obvious strengths and allowing other areas to develop.

This was my thought last night as well and then to have the flexibility to flip the switch to a totally different defense, as he has done in CFP of the past, is down right mind boggling.
I don't think I have ever seen a college DC be so flexible or intricate, ever. They can talk Foster, Patterson, Whittingham, Pruitt, Parker, Brown, Diaz, anything off the Stoops tree, Saban, Kirby, or whoever else might have a copy of the blue print. None of them have shown this.

This is key^. Bama, LSU all of the power houses are abandoning the run for some reason and trying to be Clemson’s passing attack. It’s the perfect medicine for that imho

I love BV, and he deserves every bit of credit he gets; but I suspect that TB and LH, with their pro experience as players (TB 2 years; LH 9), have majorly contributed to the way we're using the DL this year.

Probably so as Coach V's time in the Big 12 has helped. All the other staff's have their guys that they believe in and work with. It us still Coach V's D, though.

That 3-3-4 was always the hardest to play against in ncaa 14 so im assuming BV figured that out in the offseason lol. Obviously joking but imo i think its the type of blitzes we do. They can come from literally anywhere which keeps the offense on their heels and has the QB playing scared. We saw that last night and last week with Mond.

I think it's brilliant. He's maximizing his talent. The way he's utilizing his "tweeners" like Muse, Simmons, and Wallace to disguise coverages is outstanding.
