Didnt Ga pass state laws that dont permit you to look into their antics anymore

Not quite. They're still a public institution so technically they're still bound by Freedom of Information (FOI) Act requests. If you submit a request for info, because they're a government institution they are legally required to provide it.

What these Georgia reps did was extend the deadline on FOI requests to absurdity; in most states it's apparently 3 to 10 days to respond to a request; UGA is now allowed a whopping 90 days to provide the FOI.

There's a ton of games you can play when you've got that kind of time to play with. Like, you could "accidentally" send the wrong or incomplete info, and when the requester demands the actual or complete record, you've then got another 90 days to comply...if you're inclined to drag stuff out - and it seems this change in the law made doing that the entire point - then it'd be absolutely easy to drag the simplest request out to a year or more.

The Georgia state Senators who passed the law, by the way, said it "would hopefully result in a national championship."

I do not kid.

That kind of...pretty much speaks for itself, you know?
