Charles Rogers Has Died...

Just saw on Yahoo News that Charles Rogers had died.

They were saying it was due to his drug abuse problems he's had over the years but that's not the definite reason.

He was a great running back, no doubt about it.

Charles Rogers was a wide receiver for Michigan State and the Lions who was drafted #2. His pro career was marred by drug problems.

I don't recall hearing anything about the drug use...but I think his NFL career was ptobably derailed more by the fact that he broke both collar bones in back to back years early in his career. If he had a drug problem after that it might have been pain killers. Anyway he was a helluva reciever.

Houston Texans fan here.

I remember the year he was drafted. The big debate was whether Rogers or Andre Johnson was better. IIRC, most people thought AJ was the better choice. The Lions made what seemed like a homer pick and fortunately we got AJ.

Rogers had issues from day 1 in the NFL. He broke his collarbone twice and never really got off the ground.

Andre Johnson will be voted into the NFL Hall of Fame in a couple years. Texans really lucked out.
