Can we please scrap the "No-Back" Shotgun formation?

Its either a run up the middle for no gain, or a Slant / Dig Route that the Defense is ready for....if we even have enough time for the route to develop before the blocking breaks down and we're sacked. The empty backfield QB run somewhat worked with Watson, rarely worked with Bryant, and we just don't need to even go there with TL right now, imo.

TL doesn't have the pocket presence like DW4 yet. For whatever reason pass pro is the weakness of our OL this year. We definitely need extra bodies to block for him right now.
Maybe during championship phase the OL will be better and we can execute some empty sets.

We are too predictable with which RBs can block.

Again with the " our OL is a weakness " line . How ? Our break downs in pass protection have been mostly on Trevor . He's young , he's inexperienced and he simply can't see some disguised extra rushers yet . Watch the film , our OL is doing a solid job in both phases imo.

I'll pass this on to dabo so our undefeated millionaire coach can change what he is doing.

Block the DT for zero seconds.
It should get better as the season goes. We have played an alarming amount of OL at a position we are NOT too deep.

Notice I said pass pro is their weakness. Not OL is the weakness.. the run blocking has been awesome compared to last year.

OL is a tough job . Lots of things going on , have to operate in a small , violent space with many confusing fronts and disguises. Expect to be able to find about a dozen plays in a particular game where someone whiffs ... or just totally misses an assignment . That's not bad OL play , that is the nature of that football position . If you're seeing 18-20 of those types of miscalculations and mistakes ... then maybe you'd call it bad OL play . I think we are solid on the OL and we have a good rotation for multiple positions on there .

Agreed. With todays offenses and defenses, it's a hard position to learn. With a very few exceptions, it's the hardest position for freshmen to make an immediate impact. An unfortunate injury on OL can many times derail an offense faster than the loss of a skill player. Another example of why our coaches let the 2's and 3's play early and often.

You really want to throw all empty sets out? Yikes.

Throw on some Tom Brady/Patriots film and settle down.

Those empty sets work best when the qb gets the ball out quick. Multiple times saturday in the empty set Trevor just held the ball too long. He has to learn to feel pressure better and live for the next play.
In high school he would run around back there until someone came open but that won't work at this level
