Can some explain to me the Blindside Block calls?

Jan 24, 2020, 7:16 PM

The official rules say- an open field block against an opponent that is initiated from outside the opponent's field of vision, or otherwise in such a manner that the opponent cannot reasonably defend himself against the block

For one- there is no way the play we had in the 1st qtr meets this definition as 2 o’clock can’t be determined outside of the players field of vision.

For B- if the zebras are going to call it that liberally, seems like an easy thing to fake.

This penalty is so freaking vague because they want it to be.
As in our game, it’s a discretion call used to bail out the favorite.

I don't get it either. Isn't that what the clipping call is supposed to do. Of course, that play wasn't clipping either.

I guess if you're about to be blocked, just look the other direction and pretend like your hurt.
Stupid enforcement of a vague rule.

Football has gotten to the point where if a player makes a football play-as in good lick, look for a flag.Targeting, roughing, blind side block, hands to the face.List goes on.Need for player safety is good but taking over the game.Famous football coach whose name I don’t remember said dancing is a contact sport, football is a collision sport.

No they cannot. I somewhat understand the receiver because

Jan 24, 2020, 8:26 PM

he has to keep his eyes on the ball. No way to do that and watch for a defensive player that is about to kill you. But, if you are in pursuit of a ball carrier, KEEP YOUR HEAD ON A SWIVEL. Everybody that ever played knows that...

I’m 99% certain I saw a replay of that and the player that was blocked, looked directly at the blocker something like 2 steps BEFORE being blocked. Incredibly bad call. I’ve never seen a play like that called a blindside block before.

Bogus call. It was called because

Jan 24, 2020, 9:27 PM

their player didn't do what he should have.

Not because our player did something he shouldn't have.

PAC 12 officials went all Nanny St on us, looking for opportunities to throw flags and keep our little boys safe.

The look on Tee's face said it all after he got called for the push off in the 4th qtr.

LSU played undisciplined and legitimately earned over 100 yards in penalties. We were not undisciplined. The targeting was clearly bad, but I thought Skalski was just cleaning up on a tackle that Simmons (?) should have made cleanly .

But Nanny St refs had no business flagging Tee either time.
